Three Busy Days of Dressage at Weston Lawns
We recently spent three very busy days photographing the British Dressage and MCI GB dressage at Weston Lawns Equestrian Centre.
With competition taking place across two arenas, there was rarely a quiet moment. From the first horse entering the arena each morning until the final salute of the day, our cameras were kept constantly busy capturing the concentration, precision and partnership between horses and riders.
Dressage may appear calm and effortless from the sidelines, but every test represented countless hours of training and preparation. Each movement required careful communication between horse and rider, whether they were producing an accurate transition, an elegant extended pace or a beautifully balanced turn.
The MCI GB classes brought an additional sense of occasion to the event, with riders showcasing the skill, control and elegance associated with Iberian dressage. Combined with the wide variety of British Dressage classes taking place throughout the weekend, there was plenty to keep competitors, spectators and photographers entertained.
Running two arenas over three days certainly kept us on our toes. At times, it felt as though the moment one test had finished, another horse was already trotting down the centre line in the second arena. Thankfully, we managed to keep up — helped by plenty of coffee and some very comfortable footwear!
As always, Weston Lawns provided an excellent setting for the competition, and it was wonderful to see so many beautifully presented horses and determined riders taking part.
A huge thank you must go to the organisers, officials, judges, stewards and everyone working behind the scenes. Events of this size require a tremendous amount of planning and teamwork, and their efforts helped the three days run smoothly.
We would also like to thank all the competitors who stopped by to view and purchase their photographs. It was a pleasure to capture your performances, and we hope the images provided a lasting reminder of a fantastic three days of dressage at Weston Lawns Equestrian Centre.
