It was a real privilege recently to photograph Coventry Musical Theatre Society's production of We Will Rock You at the Belgrade Theatre in Coventry.
Although I attended the dress rehearsal rather than a public performance, you would never have known it from what unfolded on stage. From the moment the curtain rose, the energy, professionalism and sheer scale of the production were nothing short of remarkable.
The production values on display were exceptional. It would be difficult to imagine any theatre company - amateur or professional - surpassing what CMTS achieved with this show. Every aspect of the production demonstrated an incredible level of care, creativity and attention to detail, resulting in a performance that looked every bit as impressive as many professional productions.
The cast delivered outstanding performances throughout. From the principal roles to the ensemble, every performer brought commitment, character and enthusiasm to the stage, creating a show packed with energy and emotion. Capturing those moments through the lens was an absolute pleasure.
Of course, no production of We Will Rock You would be complete without a powerful musical performance, and the band certainly delivered. The iconic Queen soundtrack was brought to life brilliantly, providing the driving force behind the entire production and helping to create an unforgettable atmosphere in the theatre.
Behind the scenes, the sound and lighting teams also deserve enormous credit. Their work elevated the production to another level, creating a visually stunning and sonically immersive experience. The lighting design added drama, mood and spectacle, while the sound team ensured every note and every line reached the audience with clarity and impact.
As a photographer, productions like this are a joy to document. The combination of talented performers, dynamic staging, dramatic lighting and incredible music creates countless opportunities to capture memorable images that tell the story of the show.
My sincere thanks to everyone at Coventry Musical Theatre Society for the opportunity to photograph such a fantastic production. It was an honour to be there, and I look forward to sharing some of my favourite images from this spectacular show.
If the dress rehearsal was anything to go by, audiences were in for an absolutely unforgettable experience.
