The first weekend of September saw Rissington Kart Club play host to the annual Midland Karting Championships, as it has done for more than 40 years. This year’s contest was hotly contested and we were there to photograph all of the action.
This year there were 44 races split over 9 different classes and 168 drivers, plus an excellent demonstration of Historic Karts, showing us all how things used to be.
Saturday was a glorious day with wall-to-wall sunshine. This allowed the free practice and official practice sessions to run under dry conditions prior to the racing getting underway in the afternoon. By the end of the day, the first sixteen races had been run. Sunday started off decidedly damp, with a short, sharp shower immediately prior to the track going live for the start of the racing. This lead to rather slippery conditions to begin with, but fortunately the rest of the day was dry. Rather predictably, the sun came out as soon as the racing had finished!
