As the sun dips below the horizon on a blustery first day at the Weston Lawns Easter Extravaganza, there’s a real sense of momentum building across the showground. Riders, horses, and supporters have braved the elements to kick off what promises to be an exciting four days of top-class show jumping—and what a start it’s been.
Day one brought with it everything you’d expect from early spring competition: shifting light, occasional rain, and yes… a fair share of wind. Gusts swept across the arena throughout the afternoon, kicking up dust and adding an extra challenge for competitors and photographers alike. But those dramatic conditions often make for the most striking images—flowing manes, focused expressions, and powerful moments captured mid-air.
We’ve been hard at work throughout the day documenting all the action, from warm-ups in the collecting ring to those all-important clears and competitive jump-offs. Now, as the first day draws to a close, our team is already uploading images to our equestrian event photography gallery. If you were competing today—or simply want to relive some of the standout moments—you can access the gallery via the button below.
And if you’re joining us over the weekend, be sure to stop by and see us in person. Our big yellow bus is parked right next to the collecting ring, making it the perfect spot to take a breather, escape the dust storms, and browse your photos in comfort. It’s become something of a landmark here at Weston Lawns, and we’re always happy to welcome riders, owners, and supporters alike.
With three more days of competition ahead, there’s plenty more action to come. We’ll be continuing to capture every stride, every jump, and every celebration—so keep checking back for updates and new images as the event unfolds.
Good luck to all competitors for the rest of the show—we’ll see you ringside.
